About Anirban Sengupta

Shri Anirban Sengupta is one of our three Deputy Directors. He also acts as part of the senior cohort of the company’s staff. He was previously the Chief Manager (Geology) at the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Ltd. (CMPDI) - a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Over his 30-year career at CMPDI, he has worked extensively in the field of coal exploration and possesses diverse knowledge in the fields of exploration, and preparation of Geological Reports for various coal blocks, under the command areas of WCL, SECL, ECL, etc. For a brief period in 1989, he also served as the Deputy Magistrate and Deputy Collector of the West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS). One of his most prominent achievements is the recognition of his report by CMPDI as the “Best Geological Report” in 2011.

In addition to his illustrious industrial career, Shri Anirban Sengupta is also credited for his academic excellence - holding a postgraduate degree in Geology from the prestigious Presidency College (now Presidency University) of Kolkata, he was engaged in research work as a Senior Research Fellow under the UGC’s COSIST (now ASIST) program for three years.
